Parental Leave Application

Starting in calendar year 2025, CSU expanded its parental leave program to offer new parents up to 18 weeks of paid leave. Parental leave coordinates with the FAMLI program for Colorado employees.

9-Month Faculty and Non-Classified Staff
- The first 12 weeks of leave run concurrently and are applied as “top off” with FAMLI.
- For weeks 13 to 18, employees will receive full parental leave pay.

12-Month Faculty and Non-Classified Staff
- The first 12 weeks of leave run concurrently and are applied as “top off” with FAMLI.
- For weeks 13 to 18, employees will use thier accrued sick and annual leave. Once leave balances are exhausted, the employee will receive parental leave for the balance of the 18 weeks.

Fringe Pool Reimbursement: This application provides for the transfer of funds from the fringe pool to the employee’s home department for Faculty, Administrative Professional and Non-Classified Staff and State Classified employees.

CSU FAMLI is inclusive of parental leave for employees who live and work in the state of Colorado and parental leave may not be used separately from CSU FAMLI.

Beginning in calendar year 2025, 12-month employees and 9-month faculty and non-classified staff are eligible for up to 18 weeks of leave. Specific information regarding eligibility is on the HR website.

Until December 31, 2024, employees are eligible for up to 3 weeks of parental leave.

For academic appointments, this is intended to provide a full semester of leave, plus one week before and one week after the semester, giving parents needed time to bond and care for the newest member of their family while providing continuity for students.

Leave is prorated based on FTE.

Parental Leave with FAMLI

Parental leave must be used concurrently with FAMLI and be used in one continuous block. Holidays do not extend Parental Leave and may be submitted for reimbursement when they are within the parental leave period.

9 month employees - submit reimbursement for 12 weeks of parental leave used as “top off” with FAMLI, as well as 6 additional weeks of parental leave.

This form must be submitted within 30 days of leave completion or by the end of the fiscal year. Forms submitted after June 30 for the prior fiscal year will not be processed.

The entirety of Parental Leave must be taken as a continuous block within the first year after delivery or adoption placement.

The leave on this form matches TimeClock Plus entries, and a report is attached. Without the report, the application will not be processed.
