Annual Leave Payouts

Current: Faculty and administrative professional employees who accrue annual leave may receive a payout upon separation. The payout is up to a maximum of 24 days, minus any leave taken in the final 30 working days.

Beginning in 2026: Eligible employees will receive a payout for their full unused annual leave balance, up to the maximum of 24 days. Leave taken within the final 30 working days will no longer be deducted from their payout.

Sick Leave Advance

Current: Faculty and administrative professional employees who accrue sick leave receive an advance of sick leave upon hire, equivalent to the leave that would be earned during their first year of employment.

Beginning in 2026: Eligible employees will begin accruing sick leave at their regular rate upon hire, rather than receiving an advance.

SunLife Leave Management

Current: Departments and the Human Resources Benefits Team manage and administer CSU leave programs for employees.

Beginning in 2026: SunLife will take over the administration of FML, FAMLI and Parental Leave to streamline processes and enhance the ability of campus HR Professionals to focus on strategic initiatives.
