Short term disability (STD) benefits begin after 10 consecutive workdays of absence or after all accrued time-off (e.g. sick/annual leave) has been exhausted, whichever occurs later.
STD benefits can last up to 60 continuous workdays and runs concurrently with the waiting period and accrued time-off. Benefits are payable for the duration of the disability as long as there is supporting medical documentation, but cannot exceed 60 continuous workdays from the date of disability as determined by your healthcare provider. STD is prorated based on FTE.
The date of disability is determined by your healthcare provider and does not necessarily align with the exhaustion of accrued time-off.
STD benefits will end under the following circumstances:
CSU’s STD plan is a self-funded plan that replaces 100% of your monthly salary. There is no taxation, retirement, flexible spending or health savings account contributions deducted from STD benefits.
You are required to provide medical documentation from your health care provider specifying the length that your condition will prevent you from performing the essential functions of your job (but for at least 10 or more continuous working days).
