“Heat day” early closures for local K-12 schools

Sept. 7, 2022

Dear faculty and staff,
Due to the extreme heat in our area and its impact on conditions in local K-12 schools we have learned that the Poudre School District and several other Front Range area school districts are dismissing early today and tomorrow.

The university will continue with all operations, academics and events as scheduled.

We ask that supervisors and employees treat this as they would any other time an employee with children may ask for arrangements because of a school district weather closure when the university remains open. When possible, supervisors should be flexible to accommodate employees with children in a school district that is closing early because employees are juggling this unexpected change to their day. It may be necessary to shift to remote work schedules or for employees to consider taking leave.

Thank you,

Robyn Fergus
